While attending an art retreat, there was some talk of artist
Michael deMeng within the group.
I had not heard of him before and since his name kept
coming up, my curiosity was peeked
and decided to check him out. So I signed up for one of his workshops with the intention
of figuring out the life of a full time "successful" artist...
the art part of it was just secondary at that point.
I bought this little guy from Michael at the workshop along with his book.
That weekend was amazing....Michael deMeng was amazing.
If you ever get a chance to attend one of his workshops, it is money and time well spent.
He is a man with little or no ego and willing to share all of his secrets....what a treasure!
Not only did I get some insight into conducting a successful
workshop,
but I fell in love with the process of making demented toys.
I loved the deconstruction of Barbie dolls and toys and then
the reassembly into a fantastic creation.
Michael introduced me to Golden Fluid paints
which I LOVE,
Aves Apoxie Clay (which is amazing)
and rekindled my love for the Dremel tool.
I used to collect interesting objects from the streets
during my everyday walks...and now I have a great way to use them.

The first day of the workshop we created our demented toy
and the next day we created a container for it.
I was unsure if my toy would fit the container I brought (which was a Barbie doll case I think)...
surprisingly it fit perfectly.
